Today the Józsefs celebrate their name day, may God bless them.

Although we don't usually celebrate name days, today we make an exception, because we remember the day's namesake, St. Joseph, because Pope Francis announces the year of St. Joseph with his apostolic letter beginning Patris corde. You can win a Christmas farewell during the Pope's announced year of St. Joseph, which lasts from December 8, 2020 to December 8, 2021. With this, the Pope commemorates Mary's betrothed, the foster father of Jesus, whom we have honored as the patron saint of the Catholic Church for 150 years now. Because on December 8, 1870, Blessed IX. Pope Pius declared Saint Joseph the patron saint of the Catholic Church.

We know relatively little about St. Joseph, mostly that he took Mary and Jesus with him on God's instructions. He came from the lineage of King David. He belonged to poor artisans, he was a carpenter. The Holy Scriptures write the greatest praise about him: He was a true man. As revealed in the Vatican news, Pope Francis touched on today's liturgical memorial day when greeting the Italian faithful and said about St. Joseph:

"He is a great saint to whom we can entrust our lives. Be wise like him, ready to understand and put the gospel into practice".
