A common mental work method is the projection of anger caused by helplessness, the projection, when we believe that the anger we have invalidated in ourselves is directed towards us from outside - "someone wants to destroy us" - this is the driving force behind conspiracy theories.

psychologist Emőke Bagdy, professor emeritus, told Magyar Hírlap . He emphasized: the survival message of those who escaped the threat of life is to act, not to give up, because there is only one important thing, and that is survival itself, life.

"The most critical topic of recent times is vaccination: to have it or not to have it, that is the question. But why is it still a question, when it is clear in the unity of scientific facts and direct human experience that this is the only hopeful solution?"

We see, hear and experience that the topic works like a punching bag due to the division of opinions, the polarity of yeses and noes, and politicization. The stubborn denial that develops in the victim groups of the drift of mutually influencing opinions also dominates everyday discourses. We hear with tiresome and hurtful monotony that vaccination should not take place for this, that or that reason.

Why does this duality persist? Most of the time, we stop short of answering and take a stand for the impossibility of protest. "It can't be true that he doesn't see, doesn't know, doesn't understand...", we often say. However, there is an answer from psychology. When something unexpected happens to us, we stop, freeze, or even get shocked, depending on what has hit us unexpectedly.

In such cases, a kind of anxiety starts in our being, both physically and mentally, which we call alarm bell anxiety. It rings to persuade you to do something. Since we can hardly react immediately, our internal psychological de-danger and tension management mechanisms kick in, there are many of them, but in a crisis - such as the epidemic caused by covid - a strong action is certainly initiated in the soul. The ways of processing inner spiritual fear and tension, and the attempts to deal with threatening spiritual contents, thus set in motion various "dangerous, averting" ways.

The most ancient defense is denial. Saying no implies that the individual does not want to acknowledge the facts and "burys his head in the sand", because if he did not do this, he could be overcome by mortal terror. He "turns on" the denial, and at the same time, in the debate about the existence or non-existence of the virus, he declares that there is no such thing, it does not exist. The other way to eliminate danger and prevent fear is trivialization, minimizing the importance of the matter, and ultimately ignoring it. It is a relative of denial, but the sobriety of reality consciousness works in it. There is a virus, but "don't exaggerate it", "don't blow it up", and this attitude is usually followed by an explanatory confirmation.
