It has been ten years since the electronic magazine Felvidéki Magyarok was first published. The first number of this year was announced today. Even in the ten years that have passed, the events of the last 100 years have practically shaped the lives of Hungarians in the highlands. János Esterházy is still an inspiring example, but at the same time, Eduard Beneš's misdeeds still have painful wounds...

On April 8, 2011, the editor recommended the magazine with these words: "We are looking for the answer to where we, the Slovak Hungarians as a community, are in the 21st century. at the end of the first decade of the century. Do we have a chance to survive? The statistical office will certainly provide objective data about us in the fall and in the next year or two, but the numbers and data collected during the census do not tell much about the retaining power of a ethnic group, or the reason for its dispersion."

Today we are on the verge of the next census , but the search for a way to stay is still timely. - writes the editors in today's issue. - In other words, we already know so much more that we can't even count on Brussels to solve our problems, the European Commission rudely swept the European citizens' initiative for the rights of indigenous minorities off the table. The editing principle is clear: if there are no extraordinary public or social events, we report on events in Felvidék since the publication of the previous issue, for which the timeless articles of the news portal Felvidék.ma are the source. So, indirectly, the editorial office of Felvidék.ma is also the editorial office of Felvidéki Magyarok.

Their work continues to be one of the main sources regarding the fate of Hungarians from the highlands in the mother country as well!
