What the management of the Hertha football team did with the Hungarian goalkeeper coach Zsolt Petry is hypocritical, lying, vile and unacceptable in democracies (even in real ones). But also what Deutsche Welle lied about the case.
My organ, which regularly slanders Hungary with incredible dishonesty, gave its article on the case a title that does not contain even a trace of the truth. "Hertha Berlin sacked goalkeeper coach for his homophobic and anti-immigrant comments," reads the headline, and the German dirty press is not bothered at all that Petry did not do so. This is what he said (quote from the interview published in Magyar Nemzet):
" The majority of Hungarian society does not agree with Péter Gulácsi's That is why many people began to criticize him, even though the expression of opinion is morally indefensible . Péter did nothing but stand up for his principles. In principle, he cannot and should not be condemned just because he expressed his opinion. Whether people agree with his point of view or not is another matter. As an athlete, I would concentrate on football in his place, and I would not formulate any position on public and socio-political issues. (…) What could have prompted Péter to stand up for homosexuals, transvestites and people with other gender identities, I don't know. I'm sure I wouldn't have stirred up tempers in his place. "
Of course, the Deutsche Welle journalist does not need to know Hungarian (although if he had searched, he would surely have found someone who would translate the original text for him on Saturday), but as V4NA writes, the interview was also published in English. According to them, he can't. And he can also be at war with the German language, as Hertha BSC CEO Carsten Schmid stated in the article that Petry "never behaved in a homophobic or xenophobic manner".
But if not, how come?
