The foreign economic development program strengthens the Hungarian economy, the government support of Hungarian enterprises abroad also pays off for taxpayers, said János Árpád Potápi, the State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office responsible for national policy, at the opening of the first online training of the Transylvanian mentor program on Wednesday.

He pointed out that part of the foreign economic development program is the building of the mentor network, with which the local Hungarian society and economy are developed.

The essence of the mentoring program, which started in Transylvania after Vojvodina, is for businesses that have been operating well for several years or decades to support start-up entrepreneurs, shorten the entrepreneurial learning process, and create a network of connections between entrepreneurs in different regions, he explained.

János Árpád Potápi highlighted that, since 2014-2015, in national politics, in addition to the traditional support system - which basically affects culture, education, the social and health spheres - there is an increasing emphasis on helping people to prosper in their homeland, on the one hand, through vocational training, and on the other hand, through economic support through system. The latter can mean development opportunities for businesses, raising capital, and strengthening businesses with programs, he said.

Foreign economic development programs have been launched in all regions, such as Vojvodina, Subcarpathia, Transylvania, Felvidék, Muravidék and Croatia. The programs are basically organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade with partner organizations, said the state secretary. He added that there are tens of thousands of businesses in the Carpathian Basin that have received significant support from the Hungarian government in recent years in order to strengthen their businesses, employ Hungarian people, and provide a future for Hungarian families in the Carpathian Basin.

In the Transylvanian mentoring program of the State Secretariat for National Policy, which started on Wednesday and will end at the end of June, more than 30 large Transylvanian entrepreneurs will be trained as mentors, who will provide assistance to about 70 small and medium-sized entrepreneurs in Transylvania in the successful operation of their businesses.

The foreign entrepreneur mentor program - which is implemented in cooperation with the State Secretariat for National Policy, the Pro Economica Foundation and the Design Terminal - was first launched in Vojvodina in 2019.
