Sir! I confess before your holy face that I am guilty. I don't even know the number of my sins, I beg for your forgiveness and absolution!
I am guilty, Lord, because I cannot love the one who hates, but I cannot hate the one who does not love.
I am guilty because I cannot hold my other cheek when one has already been struck, but I cannot strike the one from whom I have been struck.
I am guilty because I cannot accept as natural what, contrary to your teaching, is not natural, but I also cannot despise those who live differently.
I am guilty because I cannot forgive the one who defames my country, but I cannot wish the traitors harm either.
I'm guilty because I can't love as neighbors those who fight against me or my nation, but I can't hate them either.
I am guilty because I often remain silent when I should speak, but I am incapable of defiling the one who has earned it many times over.
I'm guilty because I can't forgive outright lies, but I don't speak out against them out of cowardice or convenience.
I am guilty because I allow false prophets to be converted by my silence, but I am also guilty because when I speak, I speak against them with anger.
I am guilty because You gave us the command to love, but I am unable to love many.
I am guilty because I let love be put up in front of them as a screen without saying a word by those who I can't believe that love is hidden in them.
Lord, please look at my intentions and don't punish my fallibility. I beg you, protect my nation from those who want to hang me, from those whose hatred does not even respect the sanctity of life. Protect us from those who preach faith, but themselves only believe in power. From those who regularly swear, from those who want to destroy those who share a different opinion, from those who would sacrifice human lives in the service of their own interests. From those who scornfully attack their own blood, who have served foreign interests against the Hungarians, who have chosen the religion of hatred instead of the commandment of love.
Please, Lord, save them from evil, even if they themselves do not desire to be saved. Awake repentance in them so that they can be cleansed before they are damned forever.
Amen.
