20 churches in the three constituencies of Pest County can be renovated with HUF 240 million in government support, said Ócsán, the State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office responsible for church and ethnic relations, on Thursday.

Miklós Soltész announced that the church renovation program adopted by the government a month ago supports the reconstruction of 1,400 churches in Hungary and 400 outside the borders from a budget of more than HUF 26 billion.

Károly Pánczél (Fidesz), member of parliament for Dabas and its region, spoke about the government's call for tenders for the protection of church heritage this year, which was oversubscribed 29 times. He added that eight churches in six settlements in his constituency will be renovated this year. László Földi (KDNP), member of parliament for Cegléd and its region, said that four parishes applied for the renovation program and they managed to win almost HUF 43 million. Zoltán Bóna (Fidesz), the representative of Szigetszentmiklós and its region, said that more than HUF 100 million in support is coming to them, from which eight churches in six settlements will be renovated.
