Viktor Orbán's interview with the Postoj.sk portal received a lot of press coverage in Slovakia, reports ma7.sk. Conservative readers evaluated the conversation positively, while liberals sounded the alarm.

The echo of the interview given by Viktor Orbán to the Slovakian conservative portal Polstoj in our northern neighbor is exciting. We also reported on the interview here and here

As the ma7.sk summary says: the editor-in-chief of Sme.sk, Beáta Balogová, was upset about the interview on her social media page. According to Beáta, Polstoj did not ask the Hungarian prime minister any unpleasant questions. The editor-in-chief particularly missed questions about corruption, which, according to him, already pervades the functioning of the Hungarian state. According to him, all such conversations disguised as interviews serve to further strengthen Orbán's power.

It is interesting that their own commentators largely disagreed with Beata.

Postoj.sk editor-in-chief Martin Hanus also responded to Balogová's post, pointing out that Orbán has already given interviews to many other foreign newspapers, including the German Zeit, Welt and Stern magazine. According to Hanus, Balogova should see to what extent these interviews dealt with corruption, the EU and the German situation.

Analyst Dag Daniš, who was a journalist for the liberal Aktuality a few months ago, commented on the conversation on Polsto. According to him, although Viktor Orbán is considered a divisive personality in Slovakia, he has rational and considered visions of Central Europe.

He adds: From Slovakia's point of view, the Hungarian Prime Minister's vision of the V4 and Central Europe definitely deserves support. According to him, the key phrase is particularly important, according to which the V4 could be the opposite pole of the German-French axis.

It is interesting that the newspaper also spoke to four former prime ministers, of whom Mikulas Dzurinda is the only one who clearly rejects Orbán's ideas, while the others say that strengthening the V4 is an important task. Fico said directly: "I reject the weakening of the V4s, which our government is working so intensively on, because it mistakenly believes that the views of Poland and Hungary on key issues are toxic" According to Fico, recent years have proven that the nation-states of Central Europe are viable, more flexible they can respond to the challenges of the time, like Western Europe, which is becoming decadent .
