It seems that even a year and a half after his election, Mayor Gergely Karácsony finds it difficult to operate the town hall. This is indicated by the delay in the renovation of the Lánchíd, the scandalous bus procurement tender, and the failed BKV ticket procurement with thermal paper, the restart of the capital's public bicycle system, Bubi, is also delayed by at least two and a half months, Magyar Hírlap wrote .

On Bubi's official website, it was announced for a long time: "The public bike system goes into hibernation and will return renewed in the spring with brand new bikes, a user-friendly mobile application, multi-level pricing and more flexible terms of use."

However, spring was interpreted loosely, because even according to the original plans, the system, which would have become more expensive for Budapest taxpayers, could have started on April 1.

For now, there is a lot of secrecy, all that can be known is that the renewable system will be more expensive than the previous one - Attila Ughy, the representative of Fidesz in Budapest, told the newspaper. He added that the total cost of building the system will be slightly lower than the old one, but instead of two thousand, only twelve hundred bicycles will be available, so overall the project will cost the capital more.

However, Gergely Karácsony, who decides almost everything in one person during the extraordinary legal order, does not inform the representatives about the costs or the reasons for the slippage, instead he boasted on his social media page at the beginning of the week about the testing of the bicycles and the system that ensures their operation, and he promised that if for seven days Bubi works perfectly, you can use the bikes again.

However, the facts point to serious errors, as it was written in March that the testing could begin after Easter, but it did not start until April 15. At that time, the only condition for a "live" launch was several days of error-free operation, but this could not happen in the last four weeks.

The paper wanted to find out from the Budapest municipality what the real reason for the slippage was, what problems and what additional costs arose, but it did not receive any answers until press time.
