Gergely Karácsony is Párbeszéd's candidate for prime minister, his personality does not divide, but strengthens opposition unity - the party announced the news on its Facebook page.
The delegate assembly of the Párbeszéd Magyarorszárté Party invited co-chairman Gergely Karácsony, mayor of Budapest, to represent the party's program and the chance of a green and social turn in the opposition primaries by creating a broad social coalition as a candidate for prime minister, the party announced.
According to Párbeszéd, a green and social turn is needed in Hungary, "instead of the rule of 1 percent of the privileged few, serving the 99 percent of the majority." They believe that "the cooperation of the democratic opposition parties created the conditions for the dethronement of the privileged few, i.e. the replacement of the Orbán regime", but to "represent the will of the majority, for stable and predictable governance" more is needed: "those who want change must be increased, the camp of citizens interested in change", they emphasize.
"In the fair and democratic competition of the prime minister candidate primaries, the stake is not only who will lead the alliance of the opposition parties, but also: who will lead Hungary out of the crisis and division" - the party believes, which is why "such a prime minister- candidate is required:
- who is able to hold the diverse opposition alliance together;
- who authenticates it personally, strengthens the chance of a green and social revolution with his commitment;
– whose personality does not divide, but strengthens the unity of the opposition;
- who can create a community that goes beyond the opposition parties from national conservative, libertarian, social democratic and green committed citizens, civil and social organizations who want to work for change;
- who is capable of reuniting Hungary, which was deliberately torn apart by the Orbán regime for the purpose of power".
Párbeszéd considers co-chairman Gergely Karácsony to be the most suitable to achieve these goals.
