Buyers of Templar beer contribute to the renovation of destroyed Christian places of worship
The Templarius Foundation and the Szent András Sörfózde in Békésszentandras cooperate with the Hungary Helps Program, the buyers of Templarius beer contribute to the renovation of destroyed European Christian places of worship, the participants of the donation association announced on Thursday in Szarvas.
Tristan Azbej, the state secretary responsible for helping persecuted Christians and implementing the Hungary Helps program, said that nowadays, even in Europe, church institutions are attacked daily. In France, for example, three such incidents occur every day, which is why the range of churches eligible for support is "very wide". He explained:
In 2016, Hungary recognized that Christianity is the most persecuted religion in the world, and this is the most neglected human rights crisis.
Worldwide, 340 million people are discriminated against because of their Christian religion, and Christians in the Middle East and Africa are subjected to genocidal persecution. Anti-Christianity is increasing and becoming more violent in Europe as well, which can be explained by the appearance of Islamism, in addition, "anti-Christian extremist liberal ideas are also increasing their anti-Christian actions to the point of committing crimes," the state secretary emphasized.
Over the course of four years, Hungary Helps helped more than a hundred thousand people stay or return to their homeland, as well as save communities. The program also has message value: it indicates that "Christian civilization is important for Hungarians, we adhere to and protect Christian values," said the state secretary. The politician said about the Templar Foundation that the NGO has been carrying out charitable activities for several decades; and the Szent András Brewery in Békésszentandras is one of the oldest small-scale breweries in Hungary.
Béla Bukovinszky, the owner of the Szent András Sörfózde, explained to MTI: they signed the support contract for one year, but they are open to an "unlimited extension" of the cooperation. Currently, 8,000 bottles of the top-fermented rye premium beer Templarius with 9% alcohol content have been produced, but brewing will continue.
The price of the beer brewed according to medieval church traditions will be approximately one thousand forints, of which 150 forints will be used for the "noble purpose".
The Gyomaendrőd-based Templar Foundation was founded in 1997 by the knights of the Hungarian Praeceptory of the Knights Templar, the main goal of the non-governmental organization is to "help and support the strengthening of the Catholic faith with various programs and applications," said János Ungvölgyi, chairman of the board of trustees.
The Szent András Brewery was established in 1993, in 2011 it was chosen as the brewery of the year. The small factory has won more than 30 domestic and international awards and produces almost 20 types of beer. Templárius is a new, premium category brew that can be kept for several years. They have also participated in charity campaigns in the past, so they have helped autistic children and abused women with their products.
