Ninety percent of the renovation of the castle in Szatkígyós is completed, according to the plans, it will be opened to visitors in the first quarter of 2022, it was announced during a tour of the site.

Tamás Glázer , the managing director of the National Heritage Protection Development (NÖF) Nonprofit Kft., reminded that the monument will be renovated with an amount exceeding 3.23 billion forints , of which 1.7 billion are from the EU and 1.5 billion from domestic sources. The works - carried out by Modinvest Kft. - began at the end of February 2019.

The of the castle, designed by Miklós Ybl , covers about 1,700 square meters, the total area of ​​its levels is more than six thousand square meters, of which about four thousand are being developed. The renovation also covers the roof structure, the facade and the basement. The restoration works - in addition to the renovation of murals, stucco and wooden structures - also include the garden structures.

The large pool in the ornamental garden will also be renewed with lighting and water features.

The architectural works are expected to be completed by the end of June, after which the installation of the exhibition can begin - the ministerial commissioner of the National Castle Program and National Castle Program answered MTI's question. Zsolt Virág said that the exhibition is entitled Wenckheim's Hospitality, visitors will feel as if they are traveling back in time, arriving at the site as a guest of the count's family.

As part of the National Castle Program and the National Castle Program, 30 monuments nationwide will be renovated at a cost of HUF 60 billion.
