Already in the joy of Pentecost, on Holy Trinity Sunday, May 30, the outdoor way of the cross built around the St. Thérèse Church in Lisieux in Budapest-Rákoshegy, as well as the Merciful Jesus relief placed in the church, was blessed by Gábor Mohos, assistant bishop of Esztergom-Budapest, the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress Head of the General Secretariat of (NEK).

At the beginning of the Mass presented before the blessing of the works, parish priest Béla Balik said: May this holiday strengthen us in the love of the Holy Trinity and brotherly unity. The Way of the Cross is celebrated by the faithful and Budapest XVII. district was established with the support of the Rákosmente Self-Government in honor of the 100th anniversary of Rákoshegy (which has been part of the capital's XVII district since 1950) becoming an independent settlement, as well as the International Eucharistic Congress.

In addition to mayor Tamás Horváth, several members of the Rákosmente municipality's representative body, as well as Éva Nagyné Szeker, the evangelical pastor of Rákoskeresztúr, took part in the holy mass and the blessing.

This Sunday we celebrate the mystery of the Holy Trinity, the living God. It has been a long road to the point where we can contemplate this secret - said Gábor Mohos in the homily. – God is looking for a relationship with man, who has separated himself from his Creator through inherited sin. He is looking for people who are willing to cooperate with him. The first of these was Abraham, through whom we could see that God is not a distant God who is in the sky, in an unimaginable distance, but someone who is here and acts among us. Especially if you find an open heart, since God does not exercise power in a way that weighs on us.

Then he revealed himself in Jesus. And he, who performed so many miracles, did not force himself on the disciples, but invited them with love. Jesus wants to introduce us to God's inner secret, to the loving community of the three divine persons. He allowed himself to be crucified so that he could show that God is love.

Finally, in order for us to be in true communion with him, he sent us the Holy Spirit. This is how we received the gift of becoming God's children - he included us in his "family life".

This is a secret - the bishop pointed out. – But not because God wants to hide it, but because the wounded person is not able to fully understand it. We must allow the Spirit living in us to heal us, so that we accept him more and more and bear witness to him, so that other people can also recognize the loving God.

Pentecost is not a one-time event - it is the beginning of an outpouring of the Spirit that will happen again and again if we let him into our lives, if we cooperate with him. This is how we can experience that we live by his love and that we are his temples.

At the end of the mass, Mayor Tamás Horváth gave a speech, in which he said: Every Catholic church has a way of the cross, but here in Rákoshegy, from now on, it is also outside the church - with this we step outside the walls and bear witness to our faith in front of people. Together with Christ, we all carry a cross, especially now that the epidemic has brought so many difficulties and sorrows into our lives. But this Way of the Cross also reminds us that the Resurrection is near - the mayor pointed out that, unlike the traditional one, the outdoor work consists of 15 stations, also displaying the joy of Easter.

The way of the cross was erected by the Rákoshegy parish, the Rákoshegy Civic Circle and the Rákoshegyért Foundation with the support of many donors, whose names are preserved on a plaque.
