The Hungarian Catholic Bishops' Conference (MKPK) condemns all forms of child abuse, proclaims zero tolerance and apologizes on behalf of the perpetrators, the body stated.
The announcement emphasizes that the abuse of children and the abuse committed against them are considered serious crimes and crimes. As they write, the principle of zero tolerance also applies if someone becomes aware of the incident, but does not report it to the authorities. The organizations of the MKPK, in cooperation with the Vatican, continue their investigation based on stricter than secular rules in all cases they come to know, and recommend a report if the act is also punishable under secular legislation.
MKPK highlights: the Church is constantly developing its child protection system, consults with domestic and international organizations, and trains child protection specialists. At the same time, the announcement indicates: it does not serve the interests of the victims and society if they suggest a systemic cause-and-effect relationship between the ecclesiastical vocation and a "tendency" to commit a serious crime, or if individual and family tragedies are used to stigmatize entire communities, ecclesiastical and secular vocations , are used to expire.
