At the end of June, the plenary session of the European Parliament will vote on the most radical abortion and LGBTQ report of recent years, the Matić report.
This report is the most radical attempt against life and family in the European Parliament so far.
The document goes against the sovereignty of member states in several points, for example when it urges member states to "remove and overcome obstacles to legal abortion"; provide LGBTQ-oriented sexuality education for "all elementary and middle school children"; or that transgender "hormone treatments and surgical interventions should be available and reimbursable under publicly funded health insurance systems."
In the meantime, according to the current EU legislation, health treatments and their financing, education and the regulation of abortion also fall under the competence of the member states.
The document establishes abortion as a human right without any basis in international law. It also wants to make it available to young girls "regardless of age" and without parental consent. In addition, it calls for the abolition of time and reason restrictions on abortion, thereby trying to open the door to abortions that can be performed up to the ninth month in Europe.
Now is the time to unite and call our MEPs to reject this harmful report!
