However, this not only means sporting success, but also contributes to the strengthening of national identity, said the XXI. Század Institute is a senior analyst for the Hungarian Nation.
In the article published in Tuesday's issue Dániel Deák said: after the matches of the previous European football championship, all Hungarians were filled with pride by the sight of the celebrating crowds on the streets of Budapest, "as a result of this, many people realized how great it is to belong to a nation and a community". .
He said that left-wing politicians attack sports investments precisely because of their aforementioned role in strengthening national identity, since their view is globalist and their goal is to dismantle nation-states.
The paper recalled that on Tuesday night the Hungarian national football team will play in the European Championship again, and moreover on home ground.
Despite the success in sports diplomacy, "the left constantly attacks the government's efforts for Hungarian football", and even promised several times: if it gets into government, it will withdraw the state from professional sports and take away the resources, the newspaper wrote.
