There have been many rumors about the life of Pope John Paul I, but especially about his death. As is known, the pope spent only 33 days at the head of the church. Albino Luciani, Patriarch of Venice, was elected Pope on August 26, 1978.
He saw exactly the challenges and weaknesses of the church. He realized that the social role of faith in God also began to decline radically in capitalist countries. He prepared for organizational and administrative reforms in order to renew the institutional system of the Roman Catholic Church. The transformation - and the audit - would not have escaped the Vatican Bank (IOR) either.
Several urban legends consider this to be one of the main "motives", according to which the head of the church had to die.
The most famous conspiracy theory was written by English journalist David Yallop The book In the Name of God: Investigation John Paul I was published in 1984 and quickly became a bestseller with millions of copies sold. According to Yallop's idea, Pope John Paul I was murdered because he wanted to reveal the fearfully guarded secrets of the "fallen" Catholic Church.
Urban legends also differ about who exactly wanted to poison the church leader. The names of other church leaders, the mafia, the Freemasons, the CIA and, of course, the KGB also come up.
In reality, however, John Paul I may have had a heart attack.
The exact cause of death could not be established because the pope was not autopsied. Shortly before his death, he said a prayer together with John Magee Pope John Paul I read in his bed during his last hours. He was found at dawn the next day by a nurse who, as usual, brought coffee to the Pope. However, the attending doctor could only determine the onset of death.
