The Krónika portal reported on Thursday, based on a reader report, that one of the drivers of FANY, which operates long-distance bus services, strongly urged his Hungarian passengers not to speak in their native language.

The incident happened on the same day on the company's flight between Cluj-Napoca and Kisfenes (Finișel), and according to the complainant, the driver clearly scolded them because of the language spoken. "The driver said: 'Are you finished yet?' Because I was completely sweating. Do you think anyone tolerates what you do? No one understands anything!'" the woman from Magyarfenes recalled the driver's words.

According to the complainant, when he asked the bus driver whether he was bothered by the speech or the Hungarian language, the driver replied: both. After the incident, the daughter of the severely discriminated woman dialed the company's complaint line, but received the response from the dispatcher that the driver's behavior was justified, since "We live in Romania and in a community that includes several Romanian and Hungarian villages, not you can use your mother tongue" .

Following the incident, Krónika contacted the Cluj-Napoca-based transport company , where they responded at the complaint office on Friday that they were not aware of what had happened, but that those who had been reported would be forwarded to the management. After a few hours, a written response was sent to the editors, in which Vlad Sabo first thanked the Krónika for reporting the complaint, and then apologized on behalf of the company "for the inconvenience caused". "Regarding the behavior of the driver and the dispatcher, we will take disciplinary measures based on their job description, as what happened has an influence on the reputation of our company and does not praise our field of activity," said the manager of the company that operates long-distance flights. Although, according to the head of the company, there was a "misunderstanding" in the background, they apologize for what happened, but at the same time, they ask the complainant to come to the company's headquarters to apologize in person.

Following the Krónika article, Géza Antal, the executive president of the RMDSZ's Cluj county organization, consulted with the Magyarfenes passenger, who was treated impermissibly, and will file a complaint with the National Anti-Discrimination Council (CNCD). "It is unacceptable for this to happen in 2021!" - stated the representative of the county municipality on his social page. All of this was confirmed by the person concerned, from whom they learned that the RMDSZ will make an official complaint on his behalf due to the discrimination on the bus route.
