"For us, the effective protection of national minorities, the promotion of inter-religious dialogue, environmental protection, the opportunities of the next generations and the challenges of the future are the most important," Pál Völner explained the priorities of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of Europe to the ambassadors accredited to Budapest, adding that these goals are definitely future-oriented, focusing on youth and children's rights.

The parliamentary state secretary of the Ministry of Justice also told the diplomats at the event held in the ministry building that Hungary will continue the work started by previous presidencies in the fields of artificial intelligence, environmental protection and cyber security.
In the framework of the Hungarian presidency, the Ministry of Justice will organize several high-level conferences in the following period.
A consultation will be held, among other things, on the use of artificial intelligence for judicial purposes, as well as on the importance of human rights on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights. The deputy minister also presented the Ministry's Human Rights Handbook, which he hopes will dispel many of the false accusations spread by the European left. The volume presents human rights systematized according to the Basic Law, justified by concrete, practical examples, answering the question of how the Hungarian Government helps the realization of all human rights in Hungary. In addition, the manual describes the Hungarian system and institutions for the protection of fundamental rights, as well as the circumstances, structure, and preamble of the Basic Law, which under the title National Creed contains the entire Basic Law and, through it, the fundamental values ​​governing the operation of the Hungarian legal system and the Hungarian state.


The participants of the event were greeted by Anikó Raisz, the State Secretary for Public Administration of the Ministry.

In 1990, Hungary became the first member of the Council of Europe among the states of the Central European region. Our country last held the presidency of the Ministerial Committee of the Council of Europe in 1998/1999. Hungary holds its current presidency until November 2021.
