Sick competition film won the main prize of the Cannes film festival, the Palme d'Or. At the screening of the film Titan (director: Julia Ducournau), viewers vomited, and two dozen people fell ill during the film and were treated by ambulances in front of the festival palace. The leftist Le Monde euphorically celebrated the "transgender film", referring to the gender change of the film's hero.

Incidentally, the president of the jury was Spike Lee, known for his provocations, who created a series of masterpieces 25-30 years ago (Trash for Eyes, Dzungellaz, Malcolm X, Mo' Better Blues), but who already won an Oscar for a less successful, but politically hypercorrect film.

The grand prize of the jury was won by the film of the Iranian director Ashgar Farhadi, the best director was a strange French artist, at that time he became world-famous with his lovers of the beautiful Pont Neuf, later Leos Carax, who achieved less success. The Norwegian Renate Reisnve won the best actress, and the American Caleb Landry Jones the best actor. An Israeli and a Thai director received a special prize from the jury. The 82-year-old Italian director Marco Bellocchio was honored with a lifetime achievement award.

Although Le Figaro guessed that the Hungarian film The Story of My Wife was also a contender for the Palme d'Or, in the end it did not receive an award.
