On Monday, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó held talks with the heads of foreign affairs of the V4, and then held a joint press conference. At the event, left-liberal journalists asked Péter Szijjártó several questions about the Israeli spy software, Magyar Nemzet reported.

The software is not used by IH

I did not and do not have any knowledge of the alleged data collection , said Péter Szijjártó, who oversees the Information Office (IH) as minister, at the press event. (IH is the civilian national security service responsible for foreign intelligence.)

The head of the department informed me that on Monday morning he met with the Director General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who, in response to Péter Szijjártó's question, said:

there was no cooperation with Israeli or other intelligence agencies regarding the software in question. The software is not used by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, no agreement has been signed, the minister pointed out.

Péter Szijjártó finally announced the government's position: "they are not aware of this type of data collection".

Secret services are being discredited

József Horváth also spoke to the Magyar Nemzet about the spyware case In his opinion, the national security services carry out their work based on the laws in force.

"Nobody can be monitored in Hungary without the permission of a judge or the Minister of Justice," he stated. He also emphasized:

the process by which a well-defined circle wants to drag the law enforcement agencies and secret services into the swamp of politics is extremely harmful".

József Horváth considers it completely natural that, thanks to the development of technology, new products regularly appear on the market, from which the Hungarian state naturally also buys. He noted that this could be said of most secret services in the world.
