After eleven years in Hungary, Marco Rossi, the captain of the Hungarian national football team and his assistant, Cosimo Inguscio, took the oath of citizenship on Tuesday. The relevant documents were received from the President of the Republic, Katalin Novák, at the residence of the head of state, in the presence of Minister of Defense Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky and Sándor Csányi, president of the MLSZ, among others, it was announced on the website of the Hungarian Football Association.  

Marco Rossi arrived in Hungary in 2012, when he was appointed head coach by the Budapest Honvéd. Cosimo Inguscio, who was already a member of the Honvéd at the time, joined his staff in Kispeste - the Hungarian Football Association writes on its website.

Their pair jointly managed the men's A national team in 2018, then led it to success during the 2020 European Championship qualifiers and in the most recent Nations League competition, and the team is currently close to qualifying for the next European Championship.

The national team captain has spoken countless times about his special relationship with Hungary and how much he loves the country and the Hungarians.

After about eleven years in our country, Marco Rossi and Cosimo Inguscio became Hungarian citizens on October 3, 2023. After taking the oath of citizenship in Hungarian, the relevant documents were received from the President of the Republic Katalin Novák in the Sándor Palace, the Minister of Defense responsible for Sport Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, Sándor Csányi, the President of the MLSZ, Márton Vági, the Secretary General of the Federation, and Sándor Berzi, the Vice President and Zoltán Pokorni, Budapest XII. in the presence of the mayor of his district.

"However, today was like that again, as the country, the nation that I consider my second home, officially accepted me.

"I thank the Hungarians for the love they show me, as well as the President of the Republic, for allowing me to become a Hungarian citizen under such special circumstances."

"And of course to President Sándor Csányi, without whose trust I could not have spent so much time in Hungary and become a Hungarian citizen," added the popular captain among the fans.
