Several people became ill at the Cannes Film Festival after the screening of this year's Palme d'Or-winning transgender psychothriller Titan. Many spectators even had to call the ambulance. According to the publicist speaking to M1, the French film Titan, interspersed with lesbian scenes, among other things, earned the recognition because it consciously goes against normality.

As previously reported , the French psychological thriller Titan, directed by Julia Ducournau, was awarded the Palme d'Or by the jury of the 74th Cannes festival.

Dozens of spectators left the Cannes premiere of the French horror film Titan, partly because they couldn't stand the disgusting scenes on the screen, and partly because they were disturbed that more people didn't go out, but felt sick in their presence. Some even vomited - read the Origo article.

The audience's reaction to the film is not at all surprising. Stitched and torn skins, aggressive lesbian scenes, sickly kneaded, 62-year-old movie star, and unfocused violence. In one scene, a woman performs an abortion on herself - this is how the paper summarized the content of the work.

When BFM TV asked the audience leaving the concert, one of them answered:

Movie? What movie? I haven't seen the movie. I wanted to throw up, sometimes to sleep because I was so bored, or not to look at it because it was so disgusting.

There were also those who said that the film was offensive only to those who were not familiar with Julia Ducournau's previous work. It is also true that this was the French director's second film, so many did not have time to get to know the specific elements of the gore (violent bloodshed) genre.

The screening turned into a horror in the auditorium

According to AFP, 20 people had to be treated by the ambulances, who felt so bad after the show that several of them even vomited.

According to Le Figaro, fiction has become reality in the screening room. The critic begins his article like this: fainting, vomiting, nervous breakdown, premature departures. He puts it this way: the screening itself turned into a horror in the auditorium.

According to Origo's report, the left-wing French newspaper Le Monde wrote about Titan with ghostly delight, although it used the word transgender as a genre designation. "So it's understandable why they liked it. It was written in big letters: Don't miss it!" - can be read in the article.

Thanks for letting the monster in

Julia Ducournau is the second female director in the festival's history to receive the Palme d'Or, 28 years after the Australian Jane Campion. The 37-year-old director is the youngest director in the competition program, and Titan is the most radical film among the 24 works.

Accepting the prize, Ducournau thanked the jury for "letting the monsters in".

Main roles in communist propaganda films

The main character is the undeniably great actor Vincent Lindon, who previously received the award for best performance at Cannes. The 62-year-old star turned himself into a bodybuilder for the sake of the film. Vincent Lindon was involved in a scandal during the epidemic, because it turned out that he was actually a virus denier.

The actor, who comes from a wealthy, billionaire family, but who declares himself to be a militant leftist, takes the main role in one (practically) communist propaganda film every two or three years, it is enough to refer to Strike in the Factory, (despite its purposefulness, it is artistically valuable) How much is a man worth, with good it was less successful for the films Chaos or Welcome, which supports illegal immigration.

It consciously goes against normality

According to the fans, however, the complainers can only blame themselves, because they were not prepared to receive the artist's work.

"There is nothing surprising in the unfolding argument, since it is a typical reaction of international and domestic progressive forces that what goes against normal European values is to be praised," publicist Kristóf Trombitás told M1.
