The decade of the reunification of the nation will be followed by the decade of national pride, and we must work to ensure that cross-border national unity is an indisputable fact in Hungary and abroad - emphasized Katalin Novák, minister without portfolio responsible for families, on Saturday at the St. Stephen's Day celebration of the Vojvodina Hungarian Association in Palic.

"We have crossed the threshold of a decade in which nations will fail in the struggle for daily survival, but I believe that a decade is upon us in which the Hungarian communities in the motherland and beyond the border can strengthen and grow together and prove to themselves and the world that they are worthy guardians of the Szent István heritage".

Among other things, the minister highlighted: so much historical experience and pain surrounds the path of neighboring Serbia and Hungary, but they must understand each other because they are neighbors. Hungarians from the south play the main role in mutual understanding.

István Pásztor, the president of the Vojvodina Hungarian Association (VMSZ), also spoke in his celebratory speech that the Vojvodina Hungarians are always fighting for survival, and in the last decade they had to fight in order not to lose their political legitimacy. At the same time, he reminded that the VMSZ represents cooperation based on mutual acceptance and respect towards the Serbian majority, not opposition, for the past 14 years.

As he said: One of the ever-present and current problems regarding Hungarians is related to survival. What is at stake is not only Vojvodina's Hungarianness, but also the survival of the nation. "Times are coming when the battle for souls will take place. There have always been and still are forces that are interested against powerful nations.

It is a simple truth that developed and strong countries can handle these forces better, their advocacy power and social negotiation positions are stronger, but let's not forget that the power of the soul is what ultimately decides," he explained.

Finally, István Pásztor emphasized that Fidesz is the strategic partner of the Hungarian Federation of Vojvodina.

"We believe that Viktor Orbán, the Prime Minister of Hungary, has eternal merits in that the people of Szent István have reunited and see themselves as one nation.
