There is excrement in the corridors, discarded furniture in mountains in the stairwell, there is partying and shouting at night, used diapers regularly fly out of the windows since Karácsony Gergely Pikó assisted András and moved the homeless into the building at 22 Kőbányai út, says Irén, who has been eight has lived in the house for years. As hirnyolc.hu : the old residents are upset, but they don't dare to speak to the capital manager because they are afraid that their lease will be terminated.
Irén has been living in Kőbányai út 22 for 8 years, which is a 187-unit apartment building owned by the capital at the intersection of Könyves Kálmán körút and Kőbányai út. moved homeless people into almost half of the building - about 71 apartments - to which Mayor András Pikó did not object.
There is excrement in the corridor, diapers are flying from the window
In the past, the residents received a lot of help from the previous civil administration, but since the left-wing administration moved the homeless into the building, according to the residents, the conditions are not blessed. They have to walk among excrement in the corridors, and it is not uncommon for used diapers to fly out the window, Irén told Hírnyolc. According to him, it is also not normal that the people who are already inside let other homeless people in, and that's when the "let my hair down" happens: they drink, take drugs, and riot in the corridor at night.
The new residents received free furniture from various organizations; what they don't need is piled up in the stairwells, which is a fire hazard. Things keep falling out. One thrown butt is enough, and the whole house burns down - says Irén in despair.
No one asked if they wanted such a neighborhood
"Eight years ago, when we moved here, even the apartment door could be left open, there were no problems. We wouldn't dare do the same now. About two years ago, the homeless moved in here, and since then our life has become hell.
No one asked us if we wanted such neighbors. This is the work of Gergely Karácsony and András Pikó," says the lady, who is otherwise a left-wing sympathizer.
As he said, they have told the social workers assigned there countless times, but they just keep the old residents quiet, saying: coexistence will develop. Irén, on the other hand, believes that the new ones will not change, because many do not even want to fit in. "They can't appreciate the renovated apartments they received for free, because they didn't do anything for it. Not like the old ones, who got there through a tender and pay a significant rent," he said.
Complainants are threatened with contract termination
We old residents are bitter. We don't even dare to complain to the maintainer, because a neighbor of ours dared to speak up due to excessive utility fees, and the contract was terminated. We were scared that this is how people complain.
Christmas doesn't stop, there will be more homeless resettlement
The capital will implement fifteen civic ideas from the HUF one billion "participation budget" in accordance with the votes, it was announced at the press conference of the city's leaders on Tuesday. Deputy Mayor Gábor Kerpel-Fronius reminded that the capital has allocated HUF one billion for the implementation of ideas and development goals that the citizens of Budapest have identified. The politician reminded that in their election program they promised to bring about a change in city politics and "return the city" to the people of Budapest. A very important part of this is that the city administration asks for the opinions of Budapest residents on as many issues as possible. One of the ways to do this is to ask the citizens of the capital what they would like to spend the allocated money on, he said, in the framework of a participatory budget.
Le Marietta, the head of the Open Budapest Social Cooperation Department, explained the winning projects and said that the most votes (3,902) went to the idea called "Renovation and renting of empty apartments for those struggling with homelessness" in the Caring Budapest category.
The idea is to use the available 50 million forints - with the help of civil society organizations - to renovate the apartments owned by the local government with the involvement of the people involved, and then by renting them out to them.
Although it sounds like the blinding of peasants to renovate apartments with 50 million, the trend continues: they can settle homeless people anywhere without consulting the residents.
