Subcarpathia. according to today's report, the discussion on the role of the media in the 21st century century, the importance of renewal, the rise of current trends such as TikTok and its power to influence media consumption habits, the contrasts and parallels of the Subcarpathian and Carpathian basin media, and the future of the Subcarpathian press were discussed.
One of the participants Karolina Darcsi , said that the electronic media is starting to take over the role of the printed press. In this regard, he underlined that it is positive that the Hungarian-language newspapers of Subcarpathia were able to survive despite the known difficulties. He also spoke about the fact that the Transcarpathian Hungarian media must inform not only the Hungarians, but also the majority nation in the state's language, which the media in the region do.
Zoltán Kulin said that the Transcarpathian Hungarian-language mediums are not self-sustaining, they are maintained by foundations in the mother country . He added that there are also counterexamples, such as Vojvodina, where Pannon RTV receives state support, unlike Hungarian media in Subcarpathia.
Zsóka Kovácsné Marton explained that the coronavirus epidemic affected the print media because the distributors could not work as before. In terms of content, however, it had a positive effect on the paper, because in addition to reports, more substantial and readable articles were also published. In his opinion, this is the future of the printed press, because by the time the newspaper arrives, the news loses its freshness.
