The new school year started on September 1st, and chaos was complete in Budapest on Tuesday morning, huge traffic jams formed in the city center. Budapest has completely collapsed in the past two years, traffic is practically impossible, and even in the summer, huge traffic jams have made the daily life of motorists difficult. The traffic chaos is mostly the consequence of Gergely Karácsony's thoughtless, hasty, dilettantish measures. Zsolt Láng, the leader of the Fidesz-KDNP faction in the capital, highlighted already on Tuesday: the mayor of Budapest still does not want to hear the increasingly angry voices of motorists. They say it in Hungarian!

Budapest is completely jammed for the start of school on Wednesday. Unreasonable closures and bicycle lanes caused enormous traffic jams in the capital's morning traffic. You can only go one step at a time, but motorists waste even several minutes in one place on almost the entire section of the Nagykörút, on Hungária körút, Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út, Múzeum körút, Rákóczi út, Budai alsó wharpart, Hegyalja út, that is, actually the entire downtown became impassable.

Metropol's on-site correspondent reported that

TRAFFIC TO THE OUTSIDE OF BLAHA WAS COMPLETELY PARALYZED. ONE OF THE CARS HAD TO WAIT FOR THREE RED LIGHTS BEFORE PASSING THE INTERSECTION, BUT STILL COULD ONLY STOP AT THE ZEBRA. EVEN ON THE OVERFLOW IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE, AND DRIVERS ARE GETTING MORE IMPATIENT.

Get ready for traffic jams in Budapest - said Gergely Karácsony before the start of school on Wednesday. Of course, he explained, he said, "they tried to do everything", but there will still be congestion. In some places, for example, the lights, which until now were adapted to the trams, were changed instead of eliminating the bicycle lanes. Several of the motorists stuck in the traffic jam told the M1 News that this made traffic even worse.

Even after the announcement, the CEO of the Budapest Development Center warned Gergely Karácsony about the consequences of the decision. Dávid Vitézy drew attention to the fact that the elimination of the so-called tram-friendly lamp program puts passengers who choose the greenest mode of transport, i.e. tram transport, at a disadvantage.

Despite this, Gergely Karácsony still gave Mandiner's question on Tuesday the modification of the light program as an example, proving that he is prepared for the start of school and is able to handle the kilometers of traffic jams that many believe were caused by his anti-car measures.

OF COURSE IT TURNED OUT AGAIN THAT HE WAS NOT ABLE TO CONTROL THE CAPITAL AT ALL.

By now, the statement "Budapest has fallen" has become a household word among the capital's residents. It can take hours by car to get from one point of the city to another. Those who live far from Budapest just laugh at the mayor's thoughtless, incompetent, dilettante measures that ignore all reality and common sense - for example, the unused bicycle lanes - and for the people of Budapest, it causes constant stress and unpredictability. Nowadays, there are traffic jams in the capital at all times of the day, people sit in their cars for hours, while hardly anyone uses the bike lanes.

GET OUT OF THE CAR AND TRY PUBLIC TRANSPORT.

The answer to the mandiner.hu reporter's question was only a grin! We get the joke, we do, we just don't like it!

By the way, the mayor doesn't drive a car because he doesn't want to, but because he hasn't been able to get a driver's license to date, having failed the test several times. I am reminded of this - and ignorance of the language - the timeless dialogue of Glass Tiger:

according to which: "don't speak Spanish, Chocolate! Why? Because you can't!”

Although on several occasions, when photographers were present, he arrived at an event by bicycle, in the majority of cases he was transported by a driver (there were times when he even fell because he switched to a bicycle only in the last few meters).
