Based on the digital evidence obtained from abroad, the prosecution decided to change the suspect in the devil's advocate case. The man who was previously thought to be an accomplice by the investigators is already suspected of having committed the crime. However, the prosecution did not name who it was. DK politician Csaba Czeglédy, on the other hand, confirmed that he is the suspect, but continues to deny that he is the devil's advocate, M1 News reported.

On Tuesday afternoon, the announcement of the Chief Prosecutor's Office of the Capital City was published, from which it was revealed that the investigative authority had identified the devil's advocate. They wrote that they questioned the suspect in the case, who has a degree in law, and who is no longer suspected of aiding and abetting the crime, but of committing the crime.

Previously, the Pesti Srácok wrote about the money flows financing the left-wing expiration portal called The Devil's Advocate leading to the United States and Switzerland. According to the portal, the investigators found the blog's server in America, and the bank account from which the posts advertised on Facebook were paid for in Switzerland.

The Metropolitan Prosecutor's Office confirmed at the time that it had requested legal assistance from the judicial authorities of the United States of America and Switzerland for the data necessary for the criminal proceedings.

The transition to criminal status was based on new data obtained during the investigation. For example, digital evidence obtained by the investigative authority from abroad. The spokesperson of the Chief Prosecutor's Office of the Capital City told the Hírado: based on the new evidence, the previous suspicion was modified.

"The suspicion that was previously announced against the lawyer-educated suspect in the case was modified by the National Investigation Agency in the framework of the ongoing interrogation yesterday. As I mentioned, the essence of this is that the suspect is no longer an accomplice to the crime that is the subject of the case, but a perpetrator," said Bettina Bagoly, spokesperson of the Metropolitan Prosecutor's Office.

Two years ago, before the municipal elections, the devil's advocate published compromising recordings of the then mayor of Győr. The case was previously investigated for the misuse of special personal data.

Although the prosecutor's office did not disclose a name, the DK politician from Szombathely, Csaba Czeglédy, confirmed on his social media that he was now suspected. He, however, denied that he was the devil's advocate. He wrote: "I might boast that I am the devil's advocate, but I was brought up not to adorn myself with other people's feathers."

Gyula Budai, a representative of Fidesz, also reacted to the prosecutor's announcement on his social media page. He put it this way: "You see, Csaba, I said that you are the author of a blog called The Devil's Advocate!" You paid for the ads, and you came up with the lyrics. An old Hungarian proverb reminds me of you: »the pitcher goes to the well until it breaks«. Csaba, now you're in big trouble!"
