Ferenc Varga, the representative of Roma from Jobbik, received strong criticism, who, according to journalist and translator György Rostás-Farkas Jr., shamed the international Gypsy language in Lovári in his parliamentary speech on Monday.
The translator stated: the representative's sentences were incorrect, his speech was almost unintelligible, his Lovári pronunciation was the same as that of a beginner language learner, he exchanged masculine and feminine nouns, and his incorrect inflections made the present tense into the past tense.
György Rostás-Farkas Jr. wrote: "on April 3, the Hungarian people and the Gypsies in Hungary clearly expressed that they do not want to be part of the six-party coalition. Despite this, Varga said that he will be the conscience of the Gypsies for four years in the case of Roma. The Hungarian Gypsies do not need Ferenc Varga's generous offer," added the translator.
According to the website of the Roma Media Center and the Roma Charity Service, Varga's words are mirror translated: "Thank you for the word! The time has come, because I speak Gypsy in someone's parliament. I am proud because in the story I spoke in gypsy in parliament."
