According to analysts' expectations, Gergely Karácsony will be the prime ministerial candidate of the left. In light of this, Századvég examined whether the voters would rather see Viktor Orbán or Gergely Karácsony in the position of prime minister, and who they consider more suitable for improving the situation of certain prominent social groups and solving the country's most important problems and issues.

According to their survey sent to Magyar Hírlap, 54 percent of the Hungarian adult population would like to see Viktor Orbán in the position of prime minister, while Gergely Karácsony stands at only 34 percent.

In addition to leadership qualities, the research asked in several topical areas which of the two they consider more suitable for problem solving. As the biggest global crisis of the recent period, the Covid-19 epidemic tested the everyday lives of individuals and families, as well as every aspect of social life. In such cases, people line up behind decisive and strong leaders.

69 percent of respondents see Viktor Orbán as such a leader, while 19 percent see Gergely Karácsony. In terms of improving the situation of the privileged social groups examined in the research (families, children, pensioners), Viktor Orbán is clearly considered more suitable.

According to 61 percent of the respondents, the support of the families is true for Viktor Orbán, and 30 percent for Gergely Karácsony. In the case of child protection, this ratio is 57 and 24 percent, respectively. 57 percent of the respondents consider Viktor Orbán and 31 percent Gergely Karácsony more suitable for improving the situation of pensioners.

Handling the epidemic situation is a serious challenge in both the health and economic fields. The majority of the Hungarian population prefers to vote for Viktor Orbán in both mentioned areas: for improving the economic situation after the epidemic, 57 percent of the respondents consider Viktor Orbán and 32 percent Gergely Karácsony more suitable, in the field of health protection against the next waves of epidemics, 52 percent of the respondents favor Viktor Orbán, 20 percent Karácsony Vote of confidence in Gergely - they point out.
