In the next two years, the Somorja Regional Development Agency will hold environmental education sessions for schools and kindergartens in Csallóköz.

The agency offers three types of occupations to educational institutions within the framework of the project "Environmental education related to sustainable education in the Szigetköz-Csallóköz region" supported by the INTERREG VA Slovakia-Hungary Cooperation Program. The 24 boat trips planned for the Danube's tributary system and the Little Danube are aimed at getting to know the nature of the floodplain, on which you can study the local values with an experienced guide.

20 interactive sessions presenting gold panning and the work of water millers are used to introduce traditional crafts linked to the nature of the Danube. Finally, based on the activity developed in the Szigetközi Nature Park, children are introduced to the mysteries of nature conservation in 30 csallóközi kindergartens.

Organizations that have been collaborating in the region for years have been participating in the tender, from the Hungarian side the Fertő-Hanság National Park (this includes the Szigetközi Landscape Protection District), the Szigetközi Nature Park, the Pisztráng Kör on the Danube and the city of Mosonmagyaróvár, while from Slovakia Somorja, along with the agency.

Thanks to the project, the cooperation between Szigetköz and Csallóköz, located on both sides of the Danube, is further strengthened in the field of environmental education.

It is particularly interesting that the Csallóközi Nature Park was established last autumn based on a similar cross-island example with the participation of 16 Danube-side villages and more and more organizations, so the project's activities will also help the development of this initiative.
