He added: the people of Budapest still remember the period marked by István Tarlós and can compare it all with the current situation.
The analyst noted that traffic jams are of course part of life in a big city, but today's mayor does not want to alleviate them, but rather worsens the situation with all the uncoordinated closures, the senselessly painted bicycle lanes and the anti-car measures, he pointed out.
The political scientist believes that it is characteristic of the entire left that while the right can formulate a vision and tell the voters what kind of Hungary they want, the left-liberal politicians - apart from the Orbán-phobia - do not undertake to formulate a meaningful vision for the future. As Deák explained, Karácsony's posters only say that he can defeat Orbán. However, according to experience, this will not be enough to win over the majority of voters, as it is necessary to present a real alternative, he emphasized.
However, according to the signs, the left is not in the intellectual state to formulate such a complex vision, he continued, which provides an answer to the processes taking place in the world. It is enough to think that while in the nineties the leader of the left, Gyula Horn, spoke four languages and had a serious international network, Gergely Karácsony cannot even spell his own name correctly and does not speak a single foreign language.
Dániel Deák also talked about: despite all this, the Hungarian left receives serious foreign support, in addition to the American Democrats, they are also helped from Brussels. One part of this is financial blackmail, for example, the funds of the recovery fund cannot be paid to Hungary even until the elections. However, he added, the national government is prepared for this and all development resources are available in the budget, so even if they can try to interfere in the election campaign in this way from Brussels, it will end in failure, according to him.
All this highlights the fact that Hungary has become a safe haven in recent years: the economy is stable, the political system is stable, and the country quickly overcame the negative effects of the coronavirus epidemic. In the analyst's interpretation, all social groups will feel the economic benefits of successful crisis management and high economic growth.
