Islam will be the biggest religion in France, the French are afraid of that!

According to a recent poll, almost forty percent of French people believe that Islam will be the largest religion in France in the future. Three-quarters of the respondents fear that if this happens, the country will lose its historical identity, reports the international news agency V4NA.

Among other things, a Harris Interactive survey called "The Heart of the French" shows that 39 percent of French people believe that Islam will be the biggest religion in France in the future, Breitbart points out, which was observed by V4NA. Among Muslims, this rate is 55 percent, while 44 percent of Roman Catholics think so.

The research also reveals that 72 percent of the French are worried that if Islam becomes the most popular religion in the country, France will lose its historical identity. The reason for everything is migration.

This worries 83 percent of Catholics, 67 percent of Protestants and 67 percent of non-religious French.

HOWEVER, AMONG MUSLIMS, ALL OF 17 PERCENT SAID THAT FRANCE WOULD LOSE ITS IDENTITY IF ISLAM WAS THE MOST WIDESPREAD AND MOST COMMON RELIGION.

France has the largest Muslim community in Europe. Although in the absence of official data in France, only estimates can be given, the position of the universities and research centers dealing with this is the same that the country has the continent's largest Muslim community.

ACCORDING TO A 2016 STUDY BY THE PEW RESEARCH CENTER, THERE ARE 5 MILLION 720 THOUSAND MUSLIMS IN FRANCE, WHICH MEANS THAT 8.8 PERCENT OF THE TOTAL POPULATION IS MUSLIMS.

In addition to mass immigration, the fertility rate of women with a migrant background of 3.4 and 4 children is well ahead of the native population's rate of 1.4 children. Thanks to this, according to economist Charles Gave, citizens of French nationality will become a minority in their own country by 2060.
