"We don't want the Gyurcsány era back", the period when Ferenc Gyurcsány dictated to the left and Hungary went downhill, the Minister of Finance declared on Thursday at the street forum held at the Batthyány-orökmécses.

Mihály Varga started the Stop, Gyurcsány! Stop, Christmas! at the downtown petition signature gathering location, he said: the consequence of the Gyurcsány era was that the country became indebted, the state coffers were emptied, unemployment skyrocketed, people were led into the trap of foreign currency loans, and the thirteenth monthly benefits were taken away from pensioners and civil servants.

The Fidesz politician drew attention to the fact that in 2008, only the help of the IMF and the European Union could save the country from the shame of not being able to pay its maturing debt, like Ukraine.

However, in the last ten years, the government has done serious work and was able to reverse the downward trend, Mihály Varga pointed out. He added: the economy is on the rise, unemployment is among the lowest in the EU, and anyone who can and wants to work can find a job.

They started to rebuild the thirteenth monthly pension and a wage increase started in recent years, which everyone could be a beneficiary of through the expansion of consumption, he pointed out. Mihály Varga reminded the young people gathered at the Batthyány memorial of the Gyurcsány era and said: now the stake is whether this period will return or not.
