"Whoever hopes that we will not talk about Ferenc Gyurcsány is wrong," said the Fidesz faction leader in Esztergom. In Esztergom, Fidesz is holding its faction meeting with the participation of the President and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, faction leader Máté Kocsis and István Simicskó, faction leader of the governing partner KDNP, reported on its events at noon on Thursday.

Máté Kocsis spoke first about the "Brussels attack" on the child protection law, according to whom a referendum will decide the issue, not the "Brussels elite". At the moment, Brussels is trying to blackmail Hungary with recovery funds. But to put it mildly, we are united in the faction on the matter, child protection is a national competence," he stated.

He made it clear that the Fidesz faction supports the government in that until the incoming subsidies are disbursed, Hungary resolves the domestic continuation of the EU tender programs on its own, "the government is doing the right thing as long as this debate is going on". According to him, this year's rate of economic growth will exceed the 7 percent increase, the number - according to Máté Kocsis - may be familiar to the former Gyurcsány government, but with a negative sign.

There will therefore be a family tax refund, six months of "gun money" for law enforcement officers, the restoration of the first installment of the thirteenth monthly pension and tax exemption for those under 25 years of age.

"We are one of the few countries whose performance reached the pre-crisis level and even exceeded it," he concluded.

He recalled that on Friday it will be 15 years since the leak of the Ószöd speech, at which time, according to him, many people might have thought that this world would end forever, but "we must prepare for the 2022 elections in such a way that Ferenc Gyurcsány is an active player on the left", therefore, in his opinion, a historic mission, to deal with the "Gyurcsány era" after 15 years. He announced that Stop Gyurcsány generated 200,000 signatures in 10 days! signature collection campaign, which is far behind the number of participants in the opposition primaries ("scam show").

He warned that the DK has already taken power in the Budapest City Hall and is in the majority, so "those who hope that we will not talk about Ferenc Gyurcsány are wrong."

István Simicskó spoke more emphatically about the International Eucharistic Congress, emphasizing the organization and that it was an honor for Hungary that Pope Francis came to the event. He also pointed out that migration pressure is increasing, and with the withdrawal from Afghanistan, an additional threat lurks in Europe, the number of border violators on the southern border has tripled in one year. "Let's remember the Röszke war, it all happened six years ago," he added.

In response to a question, Máté Kocsis said that he considers the opposition's idea to abolish the rule that a parliamentary election and a referendum cannot be held on the same day to be considered and supportable, and the cost-effectiveness reasons for this are also important. Thus, he considers it conceivable that there will not only be a parliamentary election next spring, but also a referendum at the same time and place. According to the current rules, this is against the law, and the day of the elections and referendums is set by the president of the republic. He also supports the fact that in the "Fudan case" there is agreement that the issue should be decided by a referendum.

In response to a question, he also said that there is currently no estimate as to whether the government forces are preparing for a half or two-thirds majority in 2022, "we are confident that we will win," he stated.

Party leader Viktor Orbán also spoke at the faction meeting, but "he didn't even need to speak" to make it clear that Brussels is interfering in the Hungarian elections by withholding subsidies, "it is enough to be an eighth-grade student of an elementary school to see this". "The Prime Minister did not talk about American influence," he added.

István Simicskó and Máté Kocsis both made it clear that no constitutional amendment is expected along the lines of the anti-pedophile or child protection law, "there is no such legislative intention".

In response to the question of whether Fidesz or the government will respond to the questions concerning the Israeli spyware case, he said that this topic is kept on the agenda by the left, "the faction does not use any software". According to his recollections, the last time illegal surveillance was carried out during the governments before 2010, the people involved were Sándor Laborc and Tamás Portik, such things have not taken place since 2010. Returning to this question later, Máté Kocsis said, "the revenge of small countries belongs to big countries".

Máté Kocsis also had to answer what they were going to do with the collected signatures, whether they would give it to Ferenc Gyurcsány, for example.

"No way," he replied. The owners of the signatures will be encouraged to participate in next year's parliamentary elections.

István Simicskó, also answering a journalist's question, said that "our mission on earth is not to relativize the family", and Pope Francis confirmed this to the Hungarian government during his visit to Budapest. According to the faction leader, it was an important message that serious crowds were able to stand up with messages that did not hurt others during the International Eucharistic Congress.

"We are happy that Pope Francis shares the same opinion as us, and that the left-liberals are not happy about this," added Máté Kocsis.

István Simicskó sees the situation in Afghanistan in the way that, although many great powers tried to conquer it, the power was always in the hands of the leaders of the local tribes, and today these leaders are people who graduated from Western universities, while the country has a total of 25 kilometers of railway lines.

"There are very specific social relations, there are tribal relations. When the withdrawal was announced, within days many provinces went over to the Taliban. There are 32 provinces in the country, the situation will not be easy," he said.

According to István Simicskó, the Hungarian soldiers behaved very well, Hungary made many financial sacrifices, and seven soldiers died in the mission in Afghanistan.

At the end of his briefing, Máté Kocsis expressed his hope that one day Mayor Gergely Karácsony will stand before journalists like they do now.
