As part of the Rákóczi Association's Hungarian school choice program, under the care of the Somorja és Vidéke Célalap, 198 young students and their parents in Hungarian-language primary schools in Felső-Csallóköz received scholarships and gift books from Péter Őry, the vice president of the Rákóczi Association, on September 16.
The scholarship ceremony took place in the schools of Lég, Nagyszarva, Tejfalu, Somorja, Csenke and Nagymagyar.
At the penultimate stops of the busy day, in Csenké and Nagymagyar, Péter Őry greeted the parents and children coming to school like an acquaintance. In his introduction, he first talked about the local aspect of the Rákóczi Association. About József Halzl, the founding president of the Rákóczi Association and then its honorary president until his death, he said that although he lived in Budapest, he always thought of his highland roots with a strong connection. However, fewer people know that the nearby elementary school in Vajasvata was built by his father, whose memory is preserved by a plaque to this day.
Before handing over the scholarships, Péter Őry briefly presented the wide-ranging activities of the Rákóczi Association. He pointed out that the school support program was started here, in the Highlands, and then extended to the Carpathian Basin. With the expansion of its activities, the Rákóczi Association gradually grew into the largest social organization. Regarding the scholarships, he drew the parents' attention to the fact that this amount carries a symbolic message, as it is not a Hungarian state subsidy, but is collected every year from the donations of private individuals, companies, companies, athletes, artists, among others, and given as a thank you to those parents , who teach their children in their mother tongue.
Árpád Gyurkovics, director of István Alapiskola lllésházy, was invited to the scholarship ceremony in Csenke. He accepted the books and scholarships brought by the Rákóczi Association on behalf of the parents of the 11 students enrolled in the first grade.
In Nagymagyar, deputy director Csaba Bohák greeted the parents of the first-year students, who said that in relation to the last three years, the first class in Nagymagyar Elementary School started with the largest number of students - 14 children - this school year.
In his closing remarks, the vice-president of the Rákóczi Association summarized that when handing over the start-of-school support, it is possible to establish a relationship with the parents of first-year students who choose mother-tongue education every year. This will be further strengthened later by the children who participate in other programs Rákóczi Association The vice-president warmly recommended these programs to the attention of parents and teachers. Finally, he wished the children, parents and, of course, the teachers a virus-free school year. Despite the quick receipt of the scholarship and the gift book, we witnessed smiling faces, sparkling eyes and words of thanks.
