The Mária Kopp Institute for Population and Families (KINCS) and the UIC Barcelona Institute of Family Studies signed a cooperation agreement on Wednesday in Budapest.

The purpose of the cooperation agreement is to establish an active bilateral relationship between the two institutions in the field of family policy and demography. In his opening speech, Gergely Ekler, State Secretary responsible for strategy for families, emphasized that KINCS, after cooperating with several Hungarian higher education institutions, has also started joint work with foreign institutions.

The Institute of Family Studies at UIC Barcelona also focuses on population issues. The same values and guidelines led to the cooperation agreement. He said that the task of KINCS is to find those methods and practices that can be incorporated into the practice of Hungarian family policy.

At the Budapest meeting, Tünde Fűrész, the president of KINCS, said that after four universities in Hungary, a foreign partner was currently chosen as a cooperating party. The UIC Barcelona Institute of Family Studies has been conducting family policy research since 2004. In his view, the parties can gain a lot of inspiration and experience by sharing each other's knowledge

Dr. Montserrat Gas Aixendri, director of the Institute of Family Studies at the Universitat International de Catalunya, emphasized that they are the only institution in Spain that deals with research related to family policy and population.

He emphasized that Hungary plays a pioneering role in the transformation of the family policy system. He said that Western European countries can learn from Hungary and its family policy.

It is necessary to support families and young people, because this is the only way to get through the harsh demographic years that we can experience in Europe today - declared Dr. Montserrat Gas Aixendri, then added that demographic solutions are not expected from those countries that have decided in favor of migration.
