After the pension increase and premium, working families paying social security also receive a huge discount. If you are raising a child, your annual personal income tax will be refunded in February. It seems that the government is very serious about supporting families, and there are positive announcements regarding this, both in terms of housing and living support.

Let's see to whom and how the annual sya returns?

Here's the lowdown on who gets what from the huge sum provided by the government, which was announced by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in his speech before the agenda in the Parliament on Monday. Previously, the government tied this to economic growth - i.e. it can happen if there is a 5.5 percent GDP growth this year - but it looks very much like the Hungarian economy will easily jump this year. - brought the Mandiner with reference to the Index.

Who can receive a sya refund next February?

Those who are also entitled to family tax relief.

Who is entitled to family tax relief?

Those who are entitled to family allowance. You can find out about the exact scope of entitlements on the website of the tax office, but to put it simply, those who are "parents raising children" will receive the sja refund.

Must be married?

No.

How old is the child?

Until the age of 18. There is an exception here: the family tax discount is also only available over the age of 18 if the young person participates in public education, and currently only OKJ courses qualify for this - not university or college.

Does the support also apply to single-parent families?

Yes.

What about those who have a child this year or are turning 18 this year? In their case as well, is the whole year's salary returned, or is it prorated based on the date of the child's birth?

The family tax allowance applies to them too, right? However, according to the current situation, whether this reimbursement will be annual or prorated will only be clear from the detailed rules.

The Prime Minister also revealed on Monday that small entrepreneurs are also affected by the government's decision. What is the basis of the refund for the tickets?

Most entrepreneurs pay 50,000 HUF per month as taxes: in their case, therefore, a quarter of the 600,000 HUF paid this year, i.e. 150,000 HUF, will be returned.

Do taxpayers have to do anything, or does the NAV automatically "administer" this until next February 15?

In general, taxpayers do not have to do anything, NAV is/will be on the case and handles everything.

Will I need to apply for a refund?

No, it will run automatically. The taxpayer can "help" the NAV by coordinating and checking their data, but in principle there is no need to worry, the NAV takes care of everything, and if appropriate, it will also be able to visit the taxpayers for the purpose of data reconciliation.

How much does all this cost the budget?

About HUF 600 billion. Previously, the news was about 560 billion, to which were added the taxes, as well as the taxpayers who pay taxes according to this - this pushed the total amount to be repaid by 30-40 billion. 1.9 million parents may be affected by the tax refund (Viktor Orbán announced this number in the parliament on Monday), and since it has an upper limit (800 thousand forints per taxpayer), according to various modeling and maths, this amount came to 600 billion - by the way, dividing this by the 1.9 million taxpayers yields an average of HUF 316,000 for the tax refund.

How much is it coming back?

The amount paid in this year is fine, but it has an upper limit of HUF 800,000. And the latter came out in such a way that after the annual average wage, roughly this amount of sja has to be paid.

Is it only the tax actually paid that is returned, or do those who used, for example, the family tax credit, and therefore paid less tax in the first place, get a bonus?

Only the tax paid is refunded.

In the end, perhaps the most important question is: will there be a payback, i.e. will there be 5.5 percent economic growth this year?

According to the government, they write, the Hungarian economy will easily jump the 5.5 percent GDP expansion this year.
