The government provides HUF 12.2 billion in support to reduce waiting lists for surgeries postponed due to the epidemic, the Ministry of Human Resources announced. Hospitals will receive HUF 3.5 billion this year and HUF 8.7 billion in 2022 of the government subsidy.

According to the announcement, the professional proposal was prepared on the instructions of Miklós Kásler, Minister of Human Resources, on the basis of which the drastic shortening of the waiting lists is expected.

Due to the coronavirus epidemic, postponable medical interventions had to be suspended in order to protect the health of patients and prevent the spread of the virus. At the end of the third wave, as part of the restart of the health sector, elective interventions and rehabilitation services started again on May 13, they point out.

In order to reduce the waiting lists that have increased due to the epidemic situation, hospitals will receive special government support so that they can perform operations on their patients that have been postponed as soon as possible. The fact that health care workers have received the vaccine is now largely a guarantee of uninterrupted health care, says EMMI's statement.

Even unvaccinated patients awaiting surgery are asked to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
