The European Commission does not want to support the disbursement of the 7.2 billion euros of non-refundable aid that Hungary requested from the 750 billion euros Economic Recovery Fund (RRF), wrote Politico, citing its diplomatic sources.

According to the newspaper, the finalization deadline would be July 12, but the Brussels body is not satisfied with the anti-corruption efforts that the Hungarian government is preparing for.

The condition for the disbursement of the money is that each EU member state fulfills the recommendations made to it by introducing reforms and also sets up a control mechanism that excludes conflicts of interest, fraud and double support.

Hungary was asked to increase its anti-corruption efforts by taking more decisive action in the prosecution, strengthening judicial independence and providing access to data of public interest.

According to Brussels sources speaking to Politico, the Hungarian plan does not meet two criteria. (Politico did not reveal which two...)
