The Transcarpathian Hungarians have to go hard - urged the Ukrainian county leader. Another harsh anti-Hungarian statement, without consequences for now!

The president of the Subcarpathian Hungarian Cultural Association, László Brenzovics, wrote an open letter to the Attorney General of Ukraine regarding the anti-Hungarian appeal made by the head of the Ternopil County Council in recent days.

On September 28, Mihajlo Holovko, the head of the Ternopil County Council in Galicia, was one of the guests of the Ukraina 24 TV channel's program "This Morning". The topic of the broadcast was the contract between Hungary and Russia regarding the transport of natural gas. In response to the presenters' question about how to find a solution to the situation and how to respond to it, the first member of the council stated: There is a Hungarian diaspora, so it would be possible to go a little harder to them in Transcarpathia and make them aware of it..."

László Brenzovics, the president of the Subcarpathian Hungarian Cultural Association (KMKSZ), wrote an open letter to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Irina Venediktova, about the statement. He writes: "The chairman of the Ternopil County Council, who is an official, published a call on a national TV channel live that

'the Transcarpathian Hungarians have to go hard' - that is, Ukrainian citizens, because of their nationality.

Mihajlo Holovko's call that the Transcarpathian Hungarians must be 'tough on him' means to intimidate, threaten, blackmail, commit violence and persecute the citizens of Ukraine because of their nationality".

László Brenzovics called Mihajlo Holovko's appeal cynical, which, as he wrote, "stirs up inter-national antagonism between the Hungarians living in Subcarpathia and other citizens of Ukraine." Holovko's call, he continued, calls for "limiting the rights of citizens because of their nationality or language." Mihajlo Holovko thereby committed a criminal law violation, in accordance with paragraph 2 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," stated the president of the Hungarian organization, expressing his deep indignation at the same time.

In his letter, he requests that it be treated "as a report on the commission of a crime" and that "they initiate and carry out a full-scale investigation in connection with the crime committed by Mihajlo Holovko, based on Article 161, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and provide appropriate information to the investigative from database".

Holovko also stated in the TV broadcast that those who have partners like the Hungarians do not need enemies.

Karpat.in.ua recalled: Holovko called on Hungary to change its policy, but according to him, diplomatic steps, such as summoning the ambassador, are not enough.
