Today, the European Parliament held a debate on the migration situation on the Belarusian-Polish and Lithuanian border. Gál Kinga, the chairman of the Fidesz EP delegation, emphasized in his speech: "All help must be given to Poland and Lithuania, as they protect the external borders of the EU, just as Hungary did with the construction of the southern border barrier. It should be noted that then and since then we have only received criticism for this, this is a good example of Brussels' double standards."
"Since 2015, we Hungarians have known what it's like to face the wave of illegal migration. If we hadn't built a fence on the southern border, then hundreds of thousands more could have arrived illegally in Europe," highlighted Kinga Gál. "Today, it seems clear that the fence is the solution to curb mass, illegal migration. Despite this, the Hungarian government receives only criticism and attacks from Brussels due to the construction of a fence protecting the country and the external borders of the EU, thanks to the usual double standards shown towards us", underlined the Fidesz politician.
"Regarding the migration situation on the Belarusian-Polish and Lithuanian border, we stand with Poland and Lithuania in full solidarity against the threat from Belarus. Migration should not become a tool of political blackmail! All help must be given to Poland and Lithuania, because they are acting to protect the external borders of the EU," Kinga Gál pointed out.
"Hungary protected the Western European member states and continues to do so today, just as Poland and Lithuania's actions on the eastern border section serve this purpose. The emergence of a situation similar to the migration crisis of 2015 must be avoided at all costs, and everything must be done to prevent millions from leaving Afghanistan," concluded Kinga Gál.
