Viktor Orbán announced on his social media page that he signed the decree on the pension increase.

The Prime Minister said: The government decided on a 15 percent increase in pensions from January 1.

"Due to the failed Brussels sanctions, the energy crisis is raging all over Europe, and this is pressuring and affecting us Hungarians as well, " he said.

He stated:

"We Hungarians protect families with price caps and utility reductions."

But during the defense against the crisis, we must not forget about Hungary's great goals, he pointed out, and then added:

"One of our big goals is to ensure a dignified life for pensioners and preserve the value of pensions. We have achieved this goal every year since 2010. Now that we are increasing pensions by 15 percent on January 1, this will also be the case in 2023"

- concluded the Prime Minister's announcement.
