It has already been decided that the overwhelming majority of representatives from the left will be Gyurcsány's people. The "constitutional coup" of the Hungarian left is actually a sign of their complete desperation. The fact that they talk about such hair-raising things and with such passion is an open admission of their total lack of chance - stressed EP representative Tamás Deutsch in response to 888.hu's questions. We quote from the conversation below.

Tamás Deutsch: The left wing led by Gyurcsány is apparently lulling itself into the delusion that the Gyurcsány show we mentioned is just a communication text.
However, the situation in reality is that this entire pre-election period is exclusively about Ferenc Gyurcsány and his political tricks. Gyurcsány is a seasoned political machinator who completely dominates the world of left-wing parties.

We could see how he took Fekete-Győr and Jakab onto thin ice, and it also broke under them, so Gyurcsány virtually crushed Jobbik and Momentum once and for all. For years, the MSZP has essentially been on the verge of existence and non-existence, the LMP is almost a non-existent political organization, while Párbeszéd actually never existed.

For a while, Gergely Karácsony, his friend of the Gyurcsány show, the "left-freak" of the decade, remained on his feet, but in the end he dropped him as well, and instead he pulled the inexperienced extra, Péter Márki-Zay, out of his hat. Gyurcsány continues a series of political machinations in which he has taken complete control of the left, and everything is about how he can enforce his will without limits. The balance of power in which his party, the DK, was the third-fourth player after Jobbik, Momentum and the MSZP, has now radically changed, and only one young man is left standing in the countryside of the Hungarian left. Everything is about Gyurcsány's power aspirations within the left, the complete domination of the opposition. The actual process behind the scenes is Gyurcsány's lust for power, his desire to return to power.(...)

For a decade and a half of Idestova, there has been no intellectual, ideological or political innovation on the Hungarian left: the play that is taking place now has already been played once. We can remember that in 2002, in the MSZP, Péter Medgyessy was just such a puppet of Márki-Zay, he was overthrown after a year, and the actor who actually dominated the power processes within the MSZP, Ferenc Gyurcsány, took the reins. That Gyurcsány, who had been Medgyessy's right-hand man and confidant for years. (…)

I can say that if someone is in the Reds' fan base, wearing a red shirt and waving a red scarf, let's go Reds! he cheers on the matches with shouts, but in all his spare time he can constantly say that he is actually a Blue Drucker, so that is hardly believable.

But anyway, Karácsony was a real bummer, and now this inexperienced extra the mayor of Hódmezővásárhely is completely weightless.
