The current mayor of Sopron, Tamás, stated that he considers the local MSZP to be part of the opposition. There has long been serious tension in the Terézváros municipality between the current mayor and the local MSZP, which forms the coalition.

At the beginning of the year, Tamás Soproni kicked the dust with György Bálint, after the district leader said the socialist representative wanted to damage the municipality. Since then, a state of war has practically developed between Momentum and the MSZP.

Tamás Soproni has now clarified the situation. In the municipality's newspaper, Terézváros Magazin, he stated:

"Currently, there are practically two opposition parties in the board. The representatives of Fidesz formulate policy criticisms - sometimes loudly - and behave as a constructive opposition. The politicians of the MSZP, on the other hand, engage in personal and less professional debates attacking the staff of the office."

To the journalist's question as to whether he understands correctly that he considers the MSZP to be part of the local opposition, Soproni answered:

“You know, if a bird walks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, I call it a duck. But there is a simple rule of thumb for this situation in politics: the party that does not vote for the budget is the opposition party."
