The European Youth Event (EYE 2021) was organized by the European Parliament on October 8-9, 2021, at which students from Hungary were also represented. However, the Hungarian students had to face extremely worrying and offensive treatment during one of the workshop discussions, which also concerned the Hungarian Child Protection Act. That is why Gál Kinga, the president of the Fidesz European Parliament group, and Tamás Deutsch, the leader of the group, sent the following letter to David Sassoli, the president of the European Parliament, from which we are now publishing a few sentences.

According to the information received from the participants, the "LGBTQI+ in Europe: we're here, we're queer – is equality near?" The panel, announced under the title, was practically entirely about the false, one-sided and malicious interpretation of the Hungarian Child Protection Act, as well as the biased criticism of the Hungarian government.

We consider it outrageous and a procedure that disregards the original spirit of the European Youth Event that all the presenters of an event advertised as a "debate" represented the same position, without giving them the opportunity to express opinions different from theirs or to make known the facts related to the law.

Furthermore, the procedure that the event, which was originally announced to be in English, was changed at the last minute and held exclusively in French, without interpretation, and then those who did not understand French were asked to leave, carries the message that opinions different from the majority have no place in the European in dispute.
