The newly elected minister responsible for justice and migration of the German province of Baden-Württemberg thanked Hungary for protecting the external borders of the European Union and keeping the wave of illegal immigration at bay, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced on Wednesday in Stuttgart after talks with provincial minister Marion Gentges.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó reported that Europe is again under serious migration pressure, and this time not only from the south and southeast, but also from the east. According to his words, the Germans feel the latter directly on their own skin again, since some of the immigrants from Belarus have already arrived in Germany or at its border.
He emphasized that they agreed with the Minister responsible for migration, Marion Gentges, that the EU should be able to protect its external borders, as well as that there are several forms of solidarity, so it is not only expressed in whether a country accepts migrants or not . The German minister thanked Hungary for protecting the borders and curbing migration pressure, underlined Péter Szijjártó, adding that the government will continue to do so in the future. In this regard, he emphasized: Brussels must significantly change its migration policy in order for the European Union to successfully defend itself.
As long as Brussels keeps alive the issue of mandatory quotas, advocates for the admission of migrants, and treats border protection as a human rights and not a security issue, we will be under very serious pressure and face a very serious challenge, the minister stated. Finally, he stated: the defense could be much more successful and the continent would be safer if the priority of border protection in Europe were recognized.
