The LIBE committee of the European Parliament accepted the migration pact on Wednesday, supporting the inclusion of migration in a new legal framework.

The new asylum and migration management regulation stipulates mandatory solidarity for EU countries recognized as being under migration pressure, reads the website of the European Parliament .

Among other things, the points of the pact state that the member states can choose between accepting asylum seekers, providing financial contribution or operational support.

Immigrants are subjected to stricter checks upon arrival, their facial images are recorded, fingerprints are taken, and children are identified from the age of six. The document envisages faster processing of asylum applications, as well as mandatory security and health checks for people entering the EU illegally. With these measures, however, Brussels would rather manage migration than stop it.

Faster asylum procedures

The Regulation on Asylum Procedures creates a uniform EU-wide procedure for granting and withdrawing international protection, replacing the different procedures used in the member states. The reformed Eurodac database will serve to more efficiently identify those arriving irregularly in the EU, supplementing fingerprints with facial images.

The authorities can also record if someone may pose a security threat.

The new rules set uniform standards across the EU for the recognition of applicants for international protection and the type of rights granted to those entitled to such protection. I would like to achieve more effective legal cooperation between asylum decisions made in the Member States with the help of regular reviews. The main objective of the revised Reception Conditions Directive is to ensure equal reception standards in EU Member States in terms of material conditions, including housing, healthcare and an adequate standard of living for asylum seekers. As a result, registered asylum seekers will supposedly be able to fit in better, and the new rules will discourage applicants from moving around the EU after the first registration. The parts of the migration pact are not forward-looking, they do not serve the security of the European people, they are not in line with the interests of the European people, György Bakondi, the prime minister's chief adviser on internal security, said on Saturday.

According to him, the pact brings back the quotas, i.e. a center in Brussels would decide which member state should take in how many illegally arriving migrants. Hungary should create camps where illegal immigrants should be accommodated, where they should be cared for and their asylum applications assessed.

Balázs Hidvéghi: Migration must be stopped

Regarding the migration pact, Balázs Hidvéghi, member of the European Parliament, said on his community page:

The immigration supporters want to push through the decision right now because they are afraid of the advance of real right-wing forces in the June election!
