Dalma Mádl, the widow of President Ferenc Mádl, died at the age of 89, the family informed MTI on Friday.

Dalma Mádl conveyed the teachings of the church throughout his life - the Hungarian Catholic Bishops' Conference (MKPK) reacted to the news of the death of the widow of the former president Ferenc Mádl on Friday. In their announcement sent to MTI, they said:

"We are grateful to God that Ms. Dalma lived among us and with her sacrificial work and throughout her life she conveyed the teachings of the church and Christ's love to people and society. The episcopal faculty expressed its condolences to the bereaved family on behalf of the Hungarian Catholic community. We remember Ms. Dalma in our prayers, asking the Almighty to reward her with the happiness of eternal life"

Dalma Mádl, the widow of former President Ferenc Mádl, died early Friday at the age of eighty-eight. Dalma Mádl Némethy was born as Dalma on November 9, 1932 in Pécs. He graduated from Patrona Hungariae High School in Budapest in 1951. In 1955, she married Ferenc Mádl. In 1957, he worked at the Horticultural Research Institute in Budapest, then from 1964 at the Budapest University of Technology in the research group of the Department of Agricultural Chemical Technology. During Ferenc Mádl's presidency of the Republic, between 2000 and 2005, she participated in many good service and charity initiatives, and continued this activity after the end of her husband's mandate. Until his death, he also acted as a goodwill ambassador of Catholic Caritas. His work was recognized in 2005 with the award for Civil Hungary and in 2012 with the award for Hungarian Freedom.
