To the day exactly on October 31, 1944, 51 innocent local victims were executed by the Magyarkanizsa partisans in Adorján. In honor of the executed victims, a memorial service and wreath-laying ceremony was held at the memorial erected in the local cemetery yesterday afternoon.

Several members of the People's Guard of that time arrived in the village and gathered the men on October 31, 1944. 50 out of 200 people were taken to the banks of the Tisza . Many people that day thought they were taking the men for questioning, but most of them were shot into the river without trial. After a short occasional program at the commemoration, dr. Lajos Forró , vice president of the Southern Research Center, recalled the events of 1944.

- On October 31, 50 people were shot in the Tisza, and one person was shot in front of his own house. More people disappeared in the following days, so a total of 57 innocent people died in 1944. What is particularly interesting for Adorján is that here the partisan power itself considered the liquidations and this shooting without judgment on the banks of the Tisza to be serious.

In connection with this, a court case took place, in connection with which three perpetrators were sentenced, one to death and two to prison due to the events in Adorjan.

At the end of the commemoration, the names of the victims were read out, and flowers of remembrance were placed next to the relatives by representatives of the Magyarkanizsa municipality, the Hungarian Association of Vojvodina, the Southern Research Center, the local community of Adorján, and the pensioners' association.
